For most of my adult life I have been fascinated by colour and  inspired to  draw, paint and design. I have painted in pastel and  watercolour for many years  but it has only been since retiring from my medical career that I am able to devote the time to developing my ideas and exploring new techniques and materials. I have now found great satisfaction from  plein-air, still life and portrait painting in oils and am never happier and more fulfilled than when absorbed at work in my studio or painting alongside friends.

 

My inspirations and influences come from  Cezanne and the post impressionists, the Scottish colourists, Sorolla and Sargent to name just a few. 

 

I would describe myself as a passionate colourist who rejoices in the creative process of the  application of paint and the attempt to portray what I see in form and colour.
